Date: Thursday, November 13, 2014 - 08:00 to Friday, February 20, 2015 - 15:00

Now that students are headed back to school, why shouldn’t you?

The inter-professional Geriatric Grand Challenge Institute (GGCI) Advanced Curriculum in Dementia Care aims to help health care professionals deepen their knowledge and skills regarding family-centered, team-based dementia care, to build a dementia-capable workforce.  By participating in the GGCI Advanced Curriculum in Dementia Care you will develop in-depth knowledge of the levels of cognitive function seen across the various stages of illness.  You will also learn practical dementia care approaches tailored to the patients’ current cognitive level. Building on our past Geriatric Nursing Innovations in Education (GNIE) series and Geriatric Grand Challenge Institute, Core Curriculum in Dementia Care you will also have the opportunity to develop greater mastery of active learning approaches to teach others evidence-based care techniques.  And finally you will enhance your ability to work within an inter-professional team to implement care innovations through the exploration of interprofessional competencies.  Themes you will find woven throughout the Advanced Curriculum are family-centered approaches and health disparities among cultural and ethnic groups to fully embrace the concept of a Grand Challenge in Dementia Care.
