Community Dementia Roundtable - Join Us

 Dementia Roundtable Description:

Caring for people with dementia in the community is rewarding but challenging work.  The Duke Geriatric Education Center (GEC) in conjunction with the Senior CommUnity Care of North Carolina (PACE), would like to invite providers and staff engaged in the care of persons with dementia and their families to a new educational series.  These monthly sessions will be held at the Senior CommUnity Care of NC Center located at 4022 Stirrup Drive, Suite 315 in Durham, NC 27703.

Roundtable Discussions will touch on topics of interest to you based on your experience in caring for people with dementia.  Examples include:

  • Risk factors for dementia
  • Recognition of the signs and symptoms
  • Managing challenging behaviors
  • Recognition and management of safety concerns
  • Advance planning for patients and families with dementia
  • Anticipating and managing changes in level and location of care

Members of the Duke GEC will facilitate discussions and offer insights and resources based on their experiences.
